Artists statement

I use photography as a tool to establish contact with Another — be it a person or a landscape — and I am convinced that the only possible contact with Another is one-on-one, as equals.

I use photography as a reflection, as a mirror, and I am deeply attracted to the idea that everyone who looks at a picture can learn something about themselves. The images make it clear that we, at least, exist.

I use photography as a way to capture the reality in front of me, and at the same time to penetrate the cracks leading beyond it. In portraits and landscapes, I make visible what is invisible, but can be experienced or felt, that is, our attitude to vulnerabilities, loss, death and pain.

I use photography in an effort to develop empathy and understanding, because I believe that addressing the inner landscape — human or natural — can destroy cultural, political and temporal boundaries. So, in my understanding, collective sensuality can be born.
